That's my take of this film series. Elite heavyweight champion of the world gets beat by a smoking and drinking bum. Gets the title and freezes out the best contender. Eventually takes the fight gets his ass kicked. Trainer dies, Rocky calls on the black man he beat who teaches him to be better.

Paulie is blatantly . Rocky tells him to keep it down. Gets the title back.

Gets the black man who helped him train the title killed because he wouldn't. Takes on a Soviet power house and inexplicably wins. Retires puts a prospect in front of his family and gets finessed.

Loses his family fights Antonio Tarver at 60 and gives a decent showing even though he loses.

Trains Apollo's illegitimate son but doesn't see his own.

Rocky 1 was a legitimate classic in the traditional sense. Won best picture.

2-4 are cultural classics

6 is underrated
