Out of all the BCC groups Heltah Skeltah was never that excited about working with the Beatminerz from the jump. They were pretty open about it.

Well that was dumb, They made their best songs as a group with them

Yet their most cohesive piece of work was with them.

did he ever drop a solo album? :why:

The album on Def American where Rick Rubin was an executive producer got shelved and never came out. He did have a dope mixtape around that time.

He released Rockness A.P. after Sean died. Then Chronicles of the Most High EP, and Ether Rocks. All were solid. One of the most underrated lyricist ever though.

the disco ball :wow:

I never understood how his solo career didn't blow :mjcry:

He's spoken about it before in interviews and addressed it on the Rockness A.P (After Price) album.

Combination of label fumbling, bad management choices (after he left Duck Down), a changing soundscape, and bad timing.

Also, Heltah Skeltah never really had a ton of Beatminerz production. Even on Nocturnal, only half the tracks were Beatminerz production, as opposed to Black Moon and Smif N Wessun having 100% Beatminerz beats on their debuts. Same with OGC, only half of Da Storm was produced by Da Beatminerz.

They're cool now and have been for years, but there was an uneasy tension amongst Heltah Skeltah and Beatminerz during the early years. Which sucks cuz a fully produced album by them for HS would have been EPIC.

Didn’t see that interview but he was that dude at that time and when he got that solo deal I remember him and Ruck kinda fell out and possibly some other BCC members. He was like the Meth of them. Ironically, this forced Ruck to go solo where he flourished into the great Sean Price which placed Rock in his shadow.

I've always been curious if MOP, Smooth, Trigga an em, had some tension with Heltah Skeltah and OGC on some Up the Hill vs Down The Hill Brownsville shiit

Sean was always nicer than Rock to me, from jump :manny: . That's just me though. Him and Steele were the dopest out of BCC.
