Rock speaks on planning for the feud, Wrestlemania 29 and more...

- IGN.com and Matt Fowler interviewed The Rock to talk about the long-term plans of working with John Cena an dhis new TV show The Hero. Here are some highlights:

The Rock on his long-term plans with John Cena: "You have to understand that my return back into the WWE was years in the making. And since I've been back, it's been a three year-long journey that started at WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta. So, John has always been my first choice (to work with)."

The Rock on how he wanted to work with someone he could do big business with: "Here's the thing. The question was that if I was going to go back in the WWE, how could I go back and make the most impact? With who can I headline WrestleMania in that company and make the most impact? And the bottom line is that it continues to be John Cena. Just in terms of, and we'll use a Hollywood term here, box office appeal. Universal appeal. Athletic pairing. So there are a lot of reasons."

The Rock on how he wants to give back to the business and help elevate Cena: "What I'm talking about is being able to go back to the WWE and give back to the business, which is in my blood and has allowed me a platform to perform which then, 12 years ago, allowed me to make he transition to Hollywood. So the scenario I've dreamed of is that I'm able to go back, become WWE champion, go into the what is considered the biggest marketplace in the world, which is the New York City area, at MetLife Stadium and headline WrestleMania as champion and give back to the business, the fans, the company, and their number one hero. So I couldn't have asked for a better scenario and we're going to have a blast."

The Rock's thoughts on his match with Cena at Wrestlemania 29: "I think we're going to have a great match and my hope is that it's going to be a classic."

Has There Ever Been A More Guaranteed WM Result in history than this? :ld:

The crowd will shyt on this match for this reason

I mean, when they shytted on Lesnar/Goldberg it was in the middle of the card and the main events were good.

But to shyt on the main event? I wonder if Vince will legit be shocked

So this whole Rock return has been years in the making just to come back & elevate the guy who was already on top. That sounds like the best plan ever.

I think the most important part of the plan was making the most money. And that was going to be achieved by facing the guy who was already on top. I don't like this way of thinking very much but it makes a lot of sense and has worked for them.

I got a feeling this match is going to take a weird turn.

The crowd is smart at Mania, and even smarkiest in NY, and having a match with a foregone conclusion type outcome is not gonna play well.

I`m not going to say the crowd will turn on The Rock, but I would not be surprised if it's more pro-Cena than you expect.

Either crowds gonna shyt on the match entirely (probably wont be audible though) or you might see a bigger split than expected.

NY is gonna know Rock is obviously leaving after WM, so maybe the sentiment of fukk this PTer comes out.

I don't know, but there;s too much connected to that match right now. They're lucky it's outdoors.

I thought Rock was gonna be there thru Extreme Rules?

The official Facebook page of WWE announced last Thursday that WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be among those present for Extreme Rules at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri on May 19. Johnson, however, noted to Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer that he will be in Europe filming MGM and Paramount Pictures’ Hercules during this time frame. Meltzer contacted WWE for clarification, but drew no answer.

Furthermore, the official website of the Scottrade Center, nor WWE.com, is advertising Johnson for the pay-per-view event.
