They have no one with experience currently at RNS with Gary Shaw and the matchmaker leaving. How are they gonna get SOG what he needs?:dwillhuh:

2ndly, the thread wasnt about SOG which is why in the OP I talked about AB basically dodging a bullet....but @krackdagawd brought up a great point in the 2nd post of this thread when he said: "If Andre Ward gets put on the shelf again due to promoter fukkery ", which is something that possibly could happen, but we all pray doesnt.:wow:

We need more of SOG on our TV and I would hate to see my man's career be affected due to promotional issues:to:

He might really be the next B-Hop brehs:mjcry:
By replacing both of them with other people. It's not that difficult. Maybe they'll hire Tony Leonard to do that. Getting rid of Gary Shaw is a hiccup and even dealing with him was probably a misstep, but it's not a death knell to get rid of someone you can't deal with. I understand SOG is an easy target right now, but everyone from #SOGGang should be optimistic.

Nearly everyone thought he'd still be in promotional hell fighting a multi-million dollar federal lawsuit that would take up his entire prime. Now he's free, signed with a powerful sports agency, and people are starting to worry because...Gary Shaw got the Mike Price treatment?

Basically, all I got out of this is that you trust in Jay-Z breh:manny:

No disrespect, but until Jay-Z shows that he knows what he's doing....I dont believe in him. It seems like a money grab to me:yeshrug:

We see outsiders come in the Boxing industry all the time and fail. RNS doesnt even have a card lined up for the rest of this year yet while Showtime is just sitting there with open dates:wow:

What fighters are actually signed to Roc Nation besides Andre Ward?
And honestly all Jay needs to do is contract out the promotional duties for cards featuring his fighters just like what Haymon is doing (he used to use Golden Boy and is going to be using Goosen for his first NBC card I think) so I never understood why Jay was getting in so deep with Gary Shaw and folding GSP into Roc Nation. If you just want to represent guys then you don't need to try and act like their promoter too; just hire that portion of the game out.

I was really hoping Hov would succeed. He just went about it wrong.

I hate to say it but Fiddy was right. :to:

I found it

“I think they gonna clean Jay up," 50 told said convincingly. "The sport of boxing is going to clean him up and he’s going to find out it’s not like any other portion of business that he’s been involved in.”

50's beliefs most likely stem from how Jay has made his past moves, whether it be in sports or music. He compares boxing to the "fur coat business," one that requires experience and a nuanced understanding of how the business is run.

“You can’t just buy your way into it by purchasing existing companies and stuff like that," he said. "You look at the roster of fighters…you have to have experienced people around to run it. But boxing is like the fur coat business…we don’t know how much they actually sold the jacket for.”

A lot of people went at 50's neck for those comments, calling him jealous and shyt but he was right. Boxing is unlike any other business and it is not for everyone.

How is this a money grab? Jay Z just bought a streaming music service for $56 million. This boxing money isn't that big of a deal. It's part of a bigger thing, which is making Roc Nation into the next William Morris/IMG/CAA type big company.

And it's not that I trust in Jay Z. It's that I trust the people telling me whats going on. I told you guys weeks in advance about SOG signing. I knew that was happening for months before that.

The same people that told me about SOG signing months ago are telling me all is good. So for all my #SOGGang brehs, Ward has a fight lined up for the Spring and they're in negotiations.

And as for Roc Nation, Dino Duva is running things with David Itskowitch and they've got 20 other boxers on the roster.

Roc Nation has staged one card, which took place at the Theater in Madison Square Garden on Jan. 9 with much hype and a plethora of hip-hop figures in attendance. While there was an energetic crowd of over 4,000, only a fraction of the tickets were actually sold. The rest were purchased by the company and given away. This card, which was televised on FOX Sports 1 and featured Tureano Johnson (a Shaw fighter) and Harrison, drew a scant television audience. This card lost upwards of a half-million dollars, according to sources.

Exactly why Im not high on RNS, regardless about what our #SOGGang brethren @MIAlien is posting.

Ima need to SEE something happening to believe it. We just watched 50 Cent fall on his face last year, Iron Mike Productions kick out Mike Tyson in 2014, and Gary Shaw already leave and take all his boxers with him from RNS early in 2015....forgive me for being cynical, but I have almost Zero faith in Jay-Z getting anything done in the Boxing world:manny:
