The period when straight hip hop shyt could resonate on a wide stage has been over for a minute, it's become a niche sound. Now the only stuff that goes big is straight up pop or trap, which might as well be a separate genre at this point :yeshrug:
I’ve been getting at this sentiment for years, but I don’t know that I’ve ever expressed it this clearly. Dapped and Repped.

This is an incredibly important point. It begs the question, what was the last song that really resonated across the board?
When exactly did that shift happen?
Do we feel like Exhibit C really resonated across the board? We’re there any straight hip hop songs that did in the 2010s?
