There is only one problem with this, Robocop happens in a year later than what happened in Terminator. Judgement day was 1997, when Skynet attacked mankind. Robocop happened in 2028. So the belief is false.
There's no belief.. this is from a comic book that is considered Canon....
In RoboCop vs The Terminator #1 by Frank Miller and Walter Simonson, a human rebel of the future uncovers the truth of how Skynet was really created: Alex Murphy. Murphy's human mind that was merged with software upon his rebirth as RoboCop was eventually āmarriedā to Skynet, creating a chain reaction that made Skynet self-aware enough to effectively eliminate humanity in an event Terminator fans know as Judgment Day. Not only that, but his physical form was essentially the blueprint for the original Terminator design, meaning RoboCopās existence led to the development of Skynet, and its development of Terminators, confirming that RoboCop is indeed a prequel to The Terminator.
It is a poorly written comic book, because the actual writers of the two cinematic universes had them happening at the times I stated. So, they did a retcon, but that retcon makes no sense since the one they say started it all, Robocop, happened after Terminator.

Yea, but that was still within the framework of the actual story. They also showed how skynet came into being, by having the Terminator who died in the first movie chip and arm be found by a brother who use it to create skynet. Though he also destroyed his work too. So yea, I guess this cross over is par for the course in rewrites that were pretty idiotic.
My bad then, carry on. This sort of retcon is dumb, but then again the many retcons they did were dumb before.

I haven't even watched the last one or two Terminator movies. But they basically create a new universe everytime with the time travel shyt. So it's not that big if a stretch to do it again
