Eh. I get what Robert Griffin was trying to say. I think he was saying that Jackie Robinsons achievements should not be politicized and did so without thinking that it was a much a political achievement as much as it was a social achievement.

Don't get me wrong I disagree with RG3 and maybe be he didn't the gravity of that historic achievement and it did help set precedence for policy moving forward.

all he had to do was tweet something like this and he'd been straight.

Politics and sports have always been intertwined. Hell hitler tried using the olympic games in germany to showcase cac supremacy only for Jesse owens to show dat black excellence.

That's a lie. RG3 only made that dumbass statement cuz SAS and Mila went off on the DOD about the issue on ESPN. So Rg3 was saying not to talk politics on sports shows.
N-gga you can't say that when you have fccking Trump shoehorning his and his party into all things sports.

Hell every commercial break during the tournament so far has consisted of a Trump commercial.

You want to keep politics out of sports, okay, then tell these Republican folks to stop attention whoring in it like a Kardashian in front of an NBA team.

This is stupid. Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier was absolutely political, because it was a direct challenge to a political system built on segregation. You can't ignore that the barriers he faced were being upheld by laws and policies, and the resistance to integrating baseball wasn't just from fans, but from politicians and institutions, too. Stop trying to sanitize Black history to justify its erasure.
Good point

I understand what he’s trying to say. This history shouldn’t be caught up in Donald Trump’s campaign against DEI. So the next president comes in and erased Ty Cobb (known mega racist) from all federal records?
Apparently ty Cobb isnt racist

I might be stupid for thinking this, but Jackie Robinson's achievement didn't feel political to me. I believe he meant that the fear he faced wasn't tied to any single political party; it was a broader societal issue that went beyond politics.
