Nope the reason they started switching every year is because the Japanese version switches every year. It got expensive. Also when they kept switching the zords they were from different seasons of the Japanese version. But the Japanese version has also been influenced by the American version over the years lol.

Nah they pay for the rights to the costumes zords character likeness and what not. Saban did the same thing with shows like vr troopers, The Mystic Knights of Tir na nog, and Big Bad Bettleborgs. People think these are rip offs but in fact they did just as well as power rangers especially vr troopers. Only reason they didn't last long is they ran out of footage much like MMPR did and they had to switch shyt up.
