He just had two shows out here in February or early march, I should've went. I've never seen him live, never tripped off it since I can't say I was a huge prince fan, but I've never seen so many of a dead greats live, this is not ok.
One of the defining artists of my lifetime. It was so epic to see two black men really take advantage of all the doors prior artists had opened and to grow up seeing Prince and Michael run essentially a decade of music.
Prince was really the consumate artist. If Michael was the supreme perfectionist. Prince was the experimentalist. The way he would weave songs and arrangements was masterful. He took the funk template and the rock and roll template and combined them into synthesized version that set the template for music in the 80s then he created a rock opera which made him a megastar and basically made everybody hit the reset button on what they were doing. Then just because he basically abandoned that style and did something totally different. Then he basically set the template for modern r and b. Post 80s I mean.
It's crazy how we just lost the greatest musician alive. I'm lucky to have seen him on stage twice.
Rest in peace my friend. Your music will be immortal.
Pages barely loading on here, prolly due to the traffic so I ain't had a chance to comb the thread, but I think this vid is fitting as fukk seeing as how all three legends prolly cueing up for a soundcheck up there the minute somebody hands Prince one of his custom made axes.
