the writing is son the wall that person is at the end of their rope.

60 Minutes did the same thing with Andy Rooney.

Yeah, I said this in a duplicate post. Most likely in failing, ill health, and John wanted to live long enough to watch his own story told and then once it was told, and he understood people will remember him, he allowed himself to pass on.
