Chris was a hip hop legend. I salute that and all..

but suicide is so fukking selfish to me. Why would you do that to your fam and more importantly to your kids.

Im sorry but I dont have that deep down sorrow that everybody expressing. His accomplishments in entertainment dont mean that much to me compared to what he suppose to represent to his family and kids.

Yea, a person that was basically my big brother since childhood took his own life not too long ago. Dude has two beautiful baby girls. I fell out of composure for a second when i first got the news but then my thoughts quickly went to how his girls are left to fend for themselves in this world because he was a coward. If you live in America and are physically and mentally fit, you should count your blessings.

I got drunk a few weeks afterwards, screamed and cried for a couple of hours and kept it at that. shyt ain't worth the time; I'd rather worry about his kids.

Violator was Lighty's baby. It must be tough starting a company, watching it become huge in the art form that you love so much and then watch that fall apart along with your lifestyle and your relationship. If anything I'm surprised Dame Dash hasn't offed himself yet. At least Lighty was still involved with his company in some capacity. Dame Dash lost it all and on top of that is watching someone else run off with his dream. That man's been castrated of his ego.

Was thinking the same thing about Dame, a lot of these dudes that really came up, and came to prominence in the 90's, are probably hurting financially now. Buying million dollar condos, double down, in 2008, imagine the turn around on that, and that's just one example, buying houses and cars, all sorts of shyt, in thee early 2000's when it was such a prime time, in a way hip hop (industry wise) was like the housing bubble, and those sub prime mortgages. I don't think he will be the last guy to have severe financial problems, from that era.

so dude was the backbone and helped many people

yet diddy and fiddy couldnt loan him a mili to pay off his debt

If I remember correctly, Lightly played a huge part in connecting 50 to the vitamin water people.

With that said, I'm stunned that he was in debt.

Yep, just pulled out the book The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hiphop.-'Lighty was [50's] perfect business compliment.....word got around that Lighty had negotiated 10 percent of the value of the company'. Pg.617 :leon:

Maybe he kept his debt woes on the hush. It doesn't sound normal for a wealthy person to go around begging and admitting how broke he is.

We're not here for that though, so r.i.p.
