Tragic news to hear during the holiday season as Capitol Steez, real name Jamal Dewar of Joey Bada$$' ProEra crew, has died at age 19.
Only days after releasing their group mixtape, PEEP: The Aprocalypse, with Joey, CJ Fly, Chuck Strangers, and Kirk Knight, Steez was one of the standout members of the crew who shined with his more politically driven lyricism.
"This unfortunate xmas eve.. Lost a best friend, a brother, a pro, a partner. Letting go is never easy.. May ur soul rest in peace Jamal," Joey tweeted shortly after Steez cryptically left his final tweet simply stating "the end."
Capital Steez had released his solo mixtape, AmeriKKKan Koruption and appeared on Joey Bada$$'s critically-acclaimed 1999 mixtape from earlier this year. Joey Bada$$ confirmed his passing with the tweet, "RIP Capital Steez 7.7.93 - 12.24.2012." According to CloudMusiq, Steez's passing may have been self-inflicted.
We will have details surrounding his death as soon as they are made available to us, as this story is still developing.
Hip-Hop Wired sends its deepest condolences to the Pro Era crew and the Dewar family.

Shocking news.
Was just bumping his mixtape the past week, this kid was too nice. So young too. Just so sad. Listening to his music though, he seemed pretty dark and had some interesting arguments for his views on the world. But those kind of dark thoughts, mixed with drug use are devastating to unstable people.
RIP Capital STEEZ.
