It's an unfortunate event, but I think the protests are misguided. The boy had an illegal gun and was acting suspicious with it. It will probably never be proven whether he pointed it at the police or not, but if you have a gun, and are involved in unsavory activities, this is the type of thing that will happen. In my opinion the community should go marching BEFORE these types of things happen, to try to fix the circumstances that make young men turn to these types of activities. Better schools, and better economic opportunities for their parents can prevent the need for young men to align with gangs. This is an ongoing battle, we can't wait till something happens and then get outraged. The communty should have been outraged by the fact that this young man and others like him are drawn to gangs and guns in the first place.
