what can i say...all things considered i've always thought he was straight up one of the most talented guys in wrestling period. he was a comic genius, not just in terms of wrestling but overall. i feel like he would've stood out in any industry. his comic timing and improv skills were next level.

man i dunno...this is tough. i mean i could happily watch a warlord v bezerker 60 minute iron man match with gorilla and bobby doing commentary. bobby emphasized how in wrestling commentary is way more than window dressing, it's sometimes the most entertaining part of a broadcast. bobby brought me more joy and entertainment than any wrestler

(Bobby on the WWF's 1-900 number)
Gorilla: Kids, ask your parent's permission before calling.
Brain: "And if they don't give you permission, just take a baseball bat, sneak up behind them, and BAM!!"
Gorilla: (Referring to a match in progress in Texas) "Well, we'll be right back with a fight that's taking place very near where a big fight occurred many years ago."
Brain: "You know why there were only 220 Mexicans at the Alamo?
Gorilla: "...why?"
Brain: "They only had one car."

What was so great about that Rumble 92 call was the anxiety of Flair coming out 3rd with the "No No no! Dammit! to Flair winning and saying "Yes! I told you Monsoon!:umad:"

The Piper/Hart match is never mentioned as one of his best calls when Piper contemplates hitting Bret with the bell. "Hit him!:damn: What a wimp :scust:"

Watching old Nitro eps when he sells moves with the "OH!:damn:" was so memorable.

:wow:

RIP to the GOAT

Brain legit teared up here, maan... :sadcam:

I hated him and liked him at the same time as a kid. Hated him as the shyt-talking heel manager, but stayed entertained by him as the heel commentator. Some of the best WWF moments of the 80s involved Heenan- Andre's heel turn, the Jake & Rude feud, Orndorff turning on Hogan, etc. Brain was the great villain behind the villains. You couldn't wait to see him catch the beatdown too. Then you got to hear him talk shyt about it the next weekend. I can't say I'm gonna miss him, that man's been missed since he left TV years ago. RIP, Weasel.

Slept-on classic moment: showing up at Mania 17 to call the Gimmick Battle Royal... a week after WWF shuts down WCW. Sits next to Mean Gene and says "it's great to be here, and I'll tell you what, Tony..."... Heyman yells "TONY?!!" And JR is laughin' his ass off, HARD. :pachaha:

From another board:

A Chicago Tribune story in 1975 about how Bobby Heenan made the crowd so mad that a man fired five shots into the ring trying to kill him. The guy was never arrested and he kept coming back to wrestling shows. Chicago really took that “no snitching” thing to heart back then.
