We actually need more threads like this. People pay such attention to the big fights on these guys resume, that they overlook performances like this.

I could argue that this is one of the most important fights in the last 10 years. If Andre Ward doesn't win this fight, his career goes down the drain. A future HOF ballot goes out the window. The white people rejoice. HBO drops him.

Andre Ward's HBO debut was against Chad Dawson. Ward ended Dawson's career. I don't feel he got the props he deserved for that because Dawson chose to go to 168. In his next fight on HBO, he's in there with a big strong undefeated contender in Devin Rodriguez. A true SMW. Ward was coming off of a shoulder injury that could have ruined his career. He hadn't fought in over a year. This was just a terrible stylistic match up for Ward. I think Goosen's intention was to put him in there with this undefeated monster so Ward could finally lose. However, Ward went in there against all odds & put on a beautiful performance. No one has ever done that to Devin Rodriguez. I don't think anyone will either. After that loss, Devin has went on another winning streak. Just beat the shyt outta some dude on PBC. The dude is a real fighter & Ward had to overcome a bigger stronger guy.

Andre Ward's shoulder was in really bad shape. Maybe he went into the sea Pacquaio did. Men of God indeed.:obama:

And my nygga got paid 2 million for this fight

Don't forget Edwin tried to cheat. He didn't even bother to make weight.

Big, strong, undefeated, fully hydrated beast with the best training camp of his career against a vulnerable, rusty Andre Ward mentally drained from promoter issues & physically exhausted for putting himself through a grueling rehab regime. If Ward was gonna lose, that would have been the best opportunity for someone to do it.

They where coming at Andre from all angles. Goosen paid Devin not to make weight. Goosen pressing him with the business. HBO pressing him about his opponent selection, yet they allowed Cotto to get a tuneup against Delvin earlier that year. Any other boxer would crumble under that type of pressure SOG had to deal with.
