Plans for Serhii Bohachuk to end 2020 with a bang have now transformed to focusing on a breakout campaign in the New Year.
An undisclosed illness has forced unbeaten junior middleweight knockout artist from Ukraine has been forced to withdraw from his crossroads bout with veteran contender Brandon Adams, sources have informed BoxingScene.com. Bohachuk’s planned 10-round clash with Los Angeles’ Adams was due to headline the December 3 edition of Ring City USA, live on NBC Sports Network from Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach’s famed Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
The balance of the card will remain intact, including a new opponent for Adams (21-3, 13KOs). Sources inform BoxingScene.com that a suitable replacement is in the process of being finalized as this goes to publish.

Bohachuk (18-0, 18KOs) entered 2020 as one of the sport’s most promising prospects and on the verge of advancing to budding contender in the talent-rich junior middleweight division. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has slowed that progress, with Bohachuk—who is promoted by Tom Loeffler and trains out of Big Bear, California—having accepted a stay-busy fight in Mexico this past September just for the sake of getting back in the ring, as he hadn’t fought since last December.
The appearance across the border resulted in his deepest fight to date, going six rounds before registering his 18th stoppage in as many pro bouts. It was to segue into a nationally televised main event on the upstart boxing series which debuted earlier this month, though such an opportunity will now have to take place in early 2021 after falling ill.
Adams has not fought since a 12-round loss to unbeaten middleweight titlist Jermall Charlo last June in Houston, Texas. The 31-year old from the greater Los Angeles area had four straight prior to that point, all of which came in the last season of the boxing reality series The Contender in 2018.
The full undercard moves forward as scheduled while the new main event is sorted out. The evening’s chief support pits unbeaten Puerto Rican welterweight Brian Ceballo (11-0, 6KOs)—managed by Split T Management’s Tim VanNewhouse—in a 10-round contest versus Utah’s Larry Gomez (10-1, 8KOs).
The event is the second of a three-show block carried by NBC Sports Network, which will air a minimum of 14 shows prior to next summer’s Tokyo Olympics.
