I am pretty underwhelmed so far, only a quick listen.....I see where they had difficulty finding a direction, and switched sounds..I will say it sounds like Rihanna was taking this really seriously, or her handlers wanted this to be a serious album....but many tracks are very similar in sound, and don't have the kind of emotional/dramatic appeal of Rihannas best tracks...a lot of acoustics here too, which is different for her, some throwbacks to kind 60's sounds and singing.... and the lyrics seem sometimes in that direction too....A little more Lana Del Rey influence then normal....but overall is kind of a miss to me.....it seems somewhat overwrought and uneven in sound....like 'Kiss It Better' is heads and shoulders above the rest, and was supposed to be a single, but the production is an 80's sample, and a very Rihanna big budget feel...but feels way more authentic then some of the acoustic tracks....though she still sounds like a repeat victim of domestic violence on 'Kiss It Better' lol I do think some of her extreme fans may love this though...
