Rigondeaux Open To Featherweight Bout With Weight Stip
Posted by: Miguel Angel Cebreros on 2/2/2015

World super bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO), undefeated Cuban Guillermo "The Jackal" Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KOs), is still hoping to get in the ring with fellow undefeated champion, of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mexico's Leo Santa Cruz (29-0-1, 17 KOs).

While the other champions at 122-pounds are refusing to face him, he may have better luck at featherweight - where there are plenty of names like Nicholas Walters, Vasyl Lomachenko, Jhonny Gonzalez, Abner Mares and Evgeny Gradovich.

Rigondeaux is open to facing a big name at 126 - if there is a solid weight stipulation that prevents his opponent from rehydrating by more than ten pounds. Some featherweights have been known to rehydrate all the way to 140-pounds and beyond.

"I do not have any problems [with fighting any of the top featherweights]. I'm a 122-pounder, but if you put a limit where [the opponent] is unable to go beyond 136-pounds on the day of the fight - I'll fight anybody. As long as I'm getting paid, I'll fight with anyone. I never say no. I'm a boxer who knows how to solve problems when I fight," Rigondeaux said.

fukk outta here with this bullshyt. If a nikka make the weight he makes the weight.

Rigo is only 5'4 and can still make 118.

How is he gonna fight someone like a Nicholas Walters who is 5'7, with a 73'' reach and rehydrates 12+ lbs on fight night (makes 126 and blew up to 138 against Nonito Donaire) while Rigo is only 5'4, with a 68'' reach and his highest recorded rehydration is up to 128 against Robert Marroquin.?

It's too much of a size disadvantage for him:manny:

Hell, Gradovich's last fight he rehydrated from 126 to 140 overnight and Loma went from 126 to 138 overnight against GRJ. Rigo's too small to fight them for real and is only asking they weigh in at 136 max as far as rehydration.

Same thing Floyd asked Canelo:yeshrug:

so far I don't think theres anybody at 126 that's rehydrating like crazy on some jr shyt..so rigo will be SOL on that request

Walters came in at 138 against Donaire, Loma came in at 138 against GRJ, and Gradovich came in at 140 against Velez.

The most Rigo has ever weighed in at is 128. All those 3 above come in as Junior Welterweights on fight night while Rigo is only a Featherweight:to:
