Or it could be that people are tired of watching movies about white people in the middle ages and want something different. The demographics arw changing. People in Asia probably don't care for this shyt. Hell, I've barely ever cared about these types of films. They continue to make products for predominantly white men, but there is more to the world then white men. We are an evolving and changing planet, the Hollywood of yesteryear won't be the Hollywood of tomorrow:manny:

Ehhh that’s a bit of disingenuous argument considering the fact that a lot of people have living the “normal” life for months now, but movies is where they take the stance and take precautions. The fact of the matter is that a lot of these movies were going to flop whether we had the pandemic of not.

Flops in theaters isn’t a new concept, so let’s stop using the pandemic to pretend that it is. If people wanted to see this movie, then they would have showed up at the theaters to do so.

It’s funny seeing people still blaming the pandemic when ever a movie flops. Sporting events and concerts are packed on a nightly basis, but those same people somehow think going to the movies is taking too big of a risk in terms of health and safety.

The only movies I could see still having their box office wrecked by the pandemic are the ones targeted toward the AARP crowd that have Diane Keaton and Candice Bergen in the lead roles.

I’m not even that kinda dude, but my reaction to the preview was literally “Ok rich white ppl rich white ppl’ing :dahell:why would anybody see this? What’s the angle?” Gucci ain’t got it like that

His style is just boring now he's not a pioneer in 2021. The movies are good he just has no pizzaz so the youf aint feelin it no more.

This the same guy that made that chris pine denzel movie about the runaway train right.....or was that Tony Scott? Idk both o em always struck me as now boring but still no doubt very good directors.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Ridley has many classics under his belt (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down) but in the last decade, he's only had one movie that has engaged me (The Martian.) I think he's got the know how to make another great film in the future, but The Last Duel wasn't it.

Same guy who said that he cast White actors in his Egyptian movie because no-one would see a movie led by Black actors.

A couple of years later Chadwick and them did a billion at the box office.

The world's been passing him by and he's still making movies about historic cacs, like that will hold back the hands of time :heh:

Edit: This joint made $27 million off a $100 million budget :dead:

Like I said earlier in the thread, Ridley needs to stop talking because it never goes well for him. He must give his publicist nightmares.

From a Variety article about Scott and his film, Exodus: Gods & Kings:
Much of the outcry online stemmed from his decision to cast white American, European and Australian actors in most of the key roles, no matter that the same could be said of “The Passion of the Christ,” “Noah,” “The Ten Commandments” and virtually any other big-budget Bible movies. “I can’t mount a film of this budget, where I have to rely on tax rebates in Spain, and say that my lead actor is Mohammad so-and-so from such-and-such,” Scott says. “I’m just not going to get it financed. So the question doesn’t even come up.”

Ridley Scott is a good director sometimes but his historical dramas are always just wrong

He made a movie about Christopher Columbus which was just wrong and should not be watched by anyone

Kingdom of heaven while good also gets tons of the history wrong.

I can't imagine the shyt he made up for this movie
:unimpressed:

As @NZA said the film might be good but it looked depressing, reviewers kept referring to it as a #Metoo movie.

30 years ago it wouldn't have been a box office hit either so hes talking shyt. Plus its just a regular old man trope to complain about things being different to when they came up.

It will be interesting to see how House Of Gucci does, that looks way more entertaining and has Lady GaGa in the lead role. I think that will be successful and disprove his theory.
