Rick Santorum explains why smart people will never side with Republicans

It's funny how often republican politicians publicly criticize higher learning. The republicans at the top (Santorum included) all attended college and can thank their degrees for how far they have went in life. They have nothing in common with the base they are trying to reach.

But for instance having the government forcefully save your retirement instead of trusting individuals to make their own decisions on investing their retirement or at least the option has shown to be a less efficient model because those "elite central planners" who were supposed to ensure social securites solvency went into the pot to fund other central programs have left it close to bankrupt...where an individual can make more money with their retirement if invested even conservatively in th market

Anyone with a financial brain isn't relying on social security as a retirement plan. The problem with social security is not the overly conservative growth, it's that people are simply living too long. Social security was never designed to be funding people in their 90's. It was "successful" when the majority of people died before they were ever able to claim a single benefit.

Obviously Santorum was being sarcastic and mocking liberals who think that only they are smart and anyone who disagrees with them must be an idiot.
