Rick Carlisle has overachieved his entire tenure in Dallas. He's a good coach capable of raising mediocre teams ceilings. He'd be an upgrade over Brad.

Dallas more so had personnel problems than coaching problems in my opinion.

As much as I love Tim Hardaway Jr. game and how he plays with reckless abandon, he can’t be the second best player on any team with championship level aspirations.

Dallas tried to go get a second star in Portzingas but dude is way to soft, passive, and injury prone.

Sure Carlisle made mistakes but you are they are not going to find anything better than him out of the pool of coaches currently available. They are going to end up taking a chance on a unproven assistant hoping he pans out.

This is Mark Cuban trying to placate to his superstar. Luka and Carlisle obviously don’t like one another so Cuban is going to put some guy in there Luka probably does like. Cuban better hope whoever that guy is is a good coach. Portzingas big contract that almost makes him untradeable is a much bigger issue for them moving forward in the immediate future than Carlisle was.

Simmons is a nice piece but they need another guy that can go out out and get buckets and create his own shot in critical situations outside of Luka and that isn’t Simmons game at all.

I’m not sure they could get him, but pairing Bradley Beal with Luka would be scary.
