It's not deep philosophical content and this show isn't even that intense. If you're offended by anything in this show then you're way too sensitive. The appeal of the show is simple. It's funny. That's all there is to it. Rick is a drunken genius a$$hole who doesn't give a shyt about anything and he doesn't care at all about how he effects other people. It's interesting to see the crazy situations that his family ends up. The creators of this show have a very weird and creative imagination. Just because people like a wild sci fi animated show doesn't mean that it shows why "we're failing as a society".

Bruh I am not offended, I'm just calling it what it is.
I want to know why we as a society have this ravenous need to be consistently fed violence, sex, and overall moral degradation in order to be "entertained." Where is this coming from? Why do people like you and others in this thread feel so compelled to defend it with such vigilance? I don't care about getting negged, but reading some of the comments that are coming along side the negs coupled with the overall character of the content on the coli just shows me where the bulk of your heads are at. A good percentage of you and americans in general are legitimately disturbed.
Ive never been one of these people who think violence in media and video games is the direct cause of violent crime, but I don't have my head in the sand either. If there are already mentally disturbed people out there, shows like this speak directly to their narcissistic tendencies, and could serve to help push them over the edge.
There something very, very wrong with the obsession we as a society have with imagery like this. I don't give a fukk what anyone thinks. I know it's the case, and I know I'm not the only one.
The other day I was at a friends house and he had this shyt on. I'd heard about it before but never thought much of it.
This is some of the most vile and disgusting shyt I've ever seen on a television. And to top it all of it's animated, and he had his kids in there watching it.
Call me old fashioned, out of touch, whatever, but we are breeding a generation of sociopaths and savages with this type of thing.
Back in the day I liked the Simpsons but honestly I was never crazy about it the way a lot of other people are. Stuff like South Park and Family always got zero laughs from me, never understood the appeal. But this show right here (R&M) ?
I watch this show with my girl. we love it.

Would you knowingly let someone who calls himself "orbital fetus" on a message board and gets off on the content of this show and others like it be alone in a room with your kid? Look at his avy. That's what he sees himself as. Some unemotional "being" detached from reality, ie; a sociopath. And a lot of these people have kids, and their kids hang out with your kids...and then people wonder what the fukk is going on when it seems like a so called civilized society is breeding so many serial killers, pedophiles, rapists, and school shooters.

Why do you keep focusing on the violence? That's the least interesting aspect of the show and not even the main draw.
You're looking at it on the surface level, there's more to it than that. Folks aren't watching Rick and Morty for the violence.
Or people have varying tastes and can appreciate different types of entertainment?
I can watch Rick and Morty then enjoy My Hero Academia which is an extremely uplifting, sincere, and fun show that features none of those elements?
Rick and Morty is funny because it has great writing, interesting and developed characters that both play off each other, and a great hook for imaginative plot lines that work as self-contained stories.
Anyone who watches Rick and Morty then feels compelled to do something horrendous because it pushed them over the edge was already over the edge. Oh and negged
