It's hard to explain the humor. But I do think it's a very "smart" show without trying to be that way. It marches to the beat of it's own drum and manages to be funny at the same time. It's a weird show that embraces the weirdness and somehow forms a cohesive narrative amidst all of the chaos. I know that sounds like a lot of bullshyt, but trust me, it works and it's one of my favorite shows of all time. When it first came onto the scene I tried to watch it and it took me a few tries to get into it. But once it got rolling and the storylines and characters started to mesh, it became one of my favorites.

Yeah, i mean it has it's toxic fans which have cast somewhat of a shadow on it, but IMO at it's best it's genius. People really don't get how hard it is to come up with the scripts it does, blending humor, sci fi, pop culture references, etc and have it blend together. Sucks to me if it's the end of the show but no one should be above the law.
