Interesting story, I remember from my days of reading tabloids at like age 10 or so, which I still don't fully understand, but he was innocent of the bombing? The tabloids really fueled in some ways, a lot of false narratives in the 90's, and now, with Trump, Bezos, AMI, the federal investigation we see how underhanded some of the business practices were.

That said, another beleaguered white man movie, and after catching The Mule on HBO last month, Eastwood is an embarrassment. The Mule is a racially charged white savior story, with no less than TWO threesomes with a 90 year old man. It was awful.

Yeah he was innocent...Erick Robert Rudolph is the guy who did it...

It was wild what they did to this dude though...picked his life apart and then was like "oh it wasn't you no worries"...

Yeah, the federal law enforcement agencies esp. FBI were very reckless in many cases in the late 80's and 90's, think of Ruby Ridge, Waco, and a few more. It took a lot of oversight to get it's reputation back, in the wake of 9/11, actually under former director Robert Mueller.

In an investigation like that, there is a potential for collateral damage, and was it. The FBI were overly aggressive with Jewell, and someone leaked to the press, which ran with the story. The Feds nearly had him confess apparently, they were so certain it was him.

Clint Eastwood is using this story to make a political statement about 'oppressed' white people but that was probably one of the craziest events of the 90's, I mean the media was tearing this dude apart.
