Why are celebs scared to just say "Black"? Even a recently deceased legend who i had immense respect for all my life had a habit of also doing this in his interviews. Can they stop saying "people of color"?

Its so odd. Even white politicians are more brave to say "Black" than some of these celebs. As much as we all criticize Obama and we are ashamed of how he dropped the ball in his Presidency, have all of yall noticed that even he would always be saying "black folks" and "black people"?

If that's her belief fine, whatever. But to me...the constant hope that other people will save us, or that access to our culture can be gated based on acceptance of us, or that we can shame them into acting right...has never worked and will never work. They don't give a fukk. They are going to do what they have always done: consume and consolidate.

I don't think people are being honest about the state of black America. There certainly are some good signs in terms of black women graduating college, creating businesses, incarceration rate dropping, jobs, etc...but overall the wealth still isn't growing, the overall black population isn't growing, and overall we're relegated to a variety of dead end jobs that may not exist in 20 years. We're being lapped by Asians, Hispanics, Arabs etc in virtually every possible way. The only thing we have going for us are cultural shyt and consumerism rates...neither of which are truly helping the community. It's time to get real and admit...this shyt is going bad, and we're getting replaced. No, I'm not about to make some Trumpian assault on immigrants, nor am I about to dap ADOS views. I'm just saying that the way this economy is built, the people at the bottom get fukked during transitions...and we're at the bottom. That's not a good thing.

Damn near every "black culture" staple is being gentrified by whites or consolidated by Hispanics right now. They aren't pulling up for black issues, they're pulling out all our shyt.
