People coming to this conclusion Ten Years later is hilarious to me. The movie practically screams that he’s not a good person the entire time. There’s up to five characters that solely exist in the movie to tell us that Scott is shytty. The fact that the “Evil” version of him was Simply just a nice guy tells you it was definitely intentional.

The comic ended with him getting with Knives, the Asian chick instead of Ramona's crazy ass.
In the comic he still gets with Ramona (I remember reading it) so I was trying to figure out where this idea came from.
Then I found this

:ohhh:

I knew he was a pos but I only realized later how bad it was:russ:

Then again, him and Ramona had issues period so I guess it works out.

Man I wish the director made like an early 20s slice of life series

He did

I think it might have been die to people hyping it up, but what I watched of Spaced was just okay.

Better question is what the Edgar Wright version of Ant-Man was going to be. It's clear that he still got some stuff into the script (you can't convince me "Baskin Robbins always finds out", and the punchline of Scott taking the smoothie after he gets fired aren't Edgar Wright jokes), but a fullivie would've been pure fukkery.

Yes it was intentional. Remember this movie is cramming a 4 or 5 volume comic story into a single film.

The comic expands more on it but Scotts main theme of his character arc was about him growing up and being a man. He starts out as a swarmy manchild living on his homo friend's floor, getting kicked out every time he wanted to get bussy. Dated his friend, cheated then dumped her and acts like she became a bytch for no reason. Gassing up an underage expat girl because he got nothing else going on and bushes her at the first sight of new p*ssy.

Scott was a fukking a$$hole, but like most new age whiners he rationalized it with his depression from a bad family situation back home and getting his heart broken by Envy. Up until the beginning of the story it has yet to dawn on him that many of his friends care for him but everyone is disappointed in the shell of a man he's become. They tolerate him and his excuses but he starts noticing how life is starting to move on without him while constantly escaping to video games, the band and comics

Over the course of the story he starts out meeting Ramona, falling in love with her without resolving anything, mainly his insecurity. While he's fighting the exes these things cascade on him and he realizes he's not on her level

Scott half assedly tries to resolve these and the effort makes him a better man for it. (Gaining the power of love) he gets a job, his own crib etc but he's doing it all for romona. he still blows it and ramona betrays him (due to her own insecurity character arc) and goes back to her ex.

Afterward he finally sees the folly of self pity and starts handling his BI like a man. Broke up with knives forreal and gave her dad the hands. Apologized to his ex. Bushed Envy. Got a job he cared about. Beat the last of ramona's exes just to finish what he started regardless of how she feels. (Gains the power of self respect)

After I read the comic I knew the movie would be bad with how much they had to cram in. It was surprisingly cult popular due to the video game aesthetics but damn it aged badly.
