They did fukk up. But it's only because they just literally HAD NO CLUE why the island was magical. They made that shyt up as they went along.

From what I remember correctly one of the producers said "we just knew that the island had magnetic properties" or something like that.

The rest was created as they went along....

Don't get me wrong. Writers usually get their best work or biggest twists out of writing themselves into corners. Meaning putting their characters in impossible situations or coming up with impossible plot elements without having all of the answers. It forces the writer to get creative, then have to write a solution that the audience never saw coming....usually because the writer never saw it coming either! That's where you get your best stuff....

The problem with Lost is that they created way too many of those situations and couldn't address all of them. So they left unanswered questions that literally have NO ANSWERS to them.

People will never be satisfied with Lost. I'll never spend time going back to watch episodes again now that I know how the show was created and just how much the writers/producers winged it.

That's pretty much how it went.

I had friends that were writing on Lost, I can’t say who they were. And I was watching football with one of them and I was telling them how much I loved the show…and I’m like, “How are you going to pay all this stuff off?” And he looked at me and goes, “We’re not.” And I go, “What do you mean you’re not?” He said, “We literally just think of the weirdest most f*cked up thing and write it and we’re never going to pay it off.” And I look at him and I’m like, “That’s such bullshi*t! You are completely f*cking with the audience.” I want to bring a class-action lawsuit on behalf of everyone who watched Lost all those years. Nina Hartley jerked people off less that Lost did.

LOST is the Metal Gear Solid of TV. Metal Gear Solid 4 in particular. They just retconned everything they could think of in the end because they were winging it with no plan.
