Watched them both again this past week...definitely looking forward to Skyfall

Casino Royale is definitely a better film than Quantum Of Solace, but I think people overstate the difference between them.

The first hour of QoS is fukking awesome. The opening chase scene and the foot-chase/scaffolding fight are :ooh: status. And the plot was building pretty nicely too imo. Now...once the plane crashes and the discover Greene's secret it sort of rushes towards a very unsatisfying finish. The impact of the writer's strike on the film is glaringly obvious, but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as a lot of people have said or even as I thought at first. It didn't meet expectations overall, but it was still pretty good imo.

On the other hand, the poker scene in Casino Royale is so offensively stupid that it borders on unwatchable.

"You must have thought I was bluffing Mr. Bond"......after Bond turns over a fukking full house
:rudy:

It definitely hurts the overall film, even though everything else about it is pretty successful.

Can't wait for Skyfall though :merchant:

Daniel Craig bond films aren't true Bond. He's too physically gifted. The Gods Clive Owen or Idris Elba should be Bond.

Fassbender is the closest thing to true James Bond today however Craig isn't bad. The movies have been great too I just don't think this is REAL Bond but these movies have always kept up with the trends in movies. These joints just feel like Bourne movies and its no problem with me though, that Casino Royal:leon:e is my shyt too

Eva green in casino royale had me smitten.

I loved Casino Royale, classic imo, it helps that I knew nothing about poker when I watched it

I did not like QoS, for me it did not match the class of CR. I am glad Craig has made the role his but should he leave Fassbender got next.

Liked both of them, 'Casino Royale' was overall, probably a lot better, or a step or so above, 'Quantum', but parts of the latter were dope as fukk, the scene on the airplane, the ending in the desert, there were some missed opportunities, and too much action in the beginning, I'd like to see them bring more depth to the character, less action, less plane crashes and explosions, more character development. I think Sam Mendes will have an interesting take.

I think I read somewhere that Quantum suffered because it was during the writer's strike so the director and Craig wrote the movie, and Craig admitted he had no idea what he was doing...

I think I read somewhere that Quantum suffered because it was during the writer's strike so the director and Craig wrote the movie, and Craig admitted he had no idea what he was doing...

It seems that the script is sometimes an after-thought on huge productions.

‘Yes and you swear that you’ll never get involved with shyt like that, and it happens. On “Quantum”, we were fukked. We had the bare bones of a script and then there was a writers’ strike and there was nothing we could do. We couldn’t employ a writer to finish it. I say to myself, “Never again”, but who knows? There was me trying to rewrite scenes – and a writer I am not.’

You had to rewrite scenes yourself?

‘Me and the director [Marc Forster] were the ones allowed to do it. The rules were that you couldn’t employ anyone as a writer, but the actor and director could work on scenes together. We were stuffed. We got away with it, but only just. It was never meant to be as much of a sequel as it was, but it ended up being a sequel, starting where the last one finished.’

It was still a massive commercial success though. So it wasn’t a failure in that sense.

‘No, quite. Thank God it worked, and it worked like gangbusters. But for me personally, on a level of feeling satisfied, I would want to do better next time. That’s really important to me.’

To give a better performance?

‘No, the whole film. If you’re going to do that sort of stuff, you’ve just got to get it right. You’ve got to give it your best shot. When you’ve got all that talent, everyone gunning to make it good, you’ve got to get it… For fukk’s sake, it’s a Bond movie. You want people to go, “Whooah!” – a sharp intake of breath during a movie is never a bad thing.’
