I usually dont link posts off the 49ers boards but this is a good ass post with pics and shyt

49ers Rudimentary Pass Offense - 49erswebzone.com Forum

really shows that our playcalling is plain, uncreative and just not very good on pass plays.

I have so many :stopitslime: related thoughts about the cat that wrote that up it's almost silly.

Just this statement alone on the first play is pure fukking idiocy:

"It is pretty amazing that VD essentially draws bracket coverage by FOUR defenders, but at least draw them the other way."

It isn't amazing. It's called film study and he completely doesn't understand the concept of defense. That's a 3 deep zone. If VD went in the other direction like the poster suggested that would've resulted in Manningham double covered and VD as a decoy that wouldn't really be an option since he'd be running directly at whom I believe is Richard Sherman. The VD route was designed to put stress on the Chancellor, if he sucks up to the VD route like he did then Manningham would run into the zone behind him. If Chancellor bailed then that would leave Earl Thomas trying to cover VD coming across as well as Crabtree moving out towards the flat because the corner would've vacated his zone chasing Mario. In that shot there's an LB inside of Crabs as he was running the out part of his route, but he wouldn't be a factor in reading where the ball goes.

I could do the same write up for the other 2 plays as well, but as basic as he keeps calling them all 3 of those plays resulted open receivers and chances for us to gain yards. If the offense executed it wouldn't have resulted in a 3 and out.

I mean, Im not saying the guy is a genius or anything, but just by looking at routes drawn, I see problems.

and also, there are barely any receivers open, Im not sure what youre talking about. throwing the ball to covered guys is not what this offense is about...

Yea I don't want to see Kaep start forcing shyt, like you said this offense is about protecting the football.

I wanna see more from the run game in the playoffs, what happened to them creative runs we were pulling out before with Manningham/Ginn, maybe we can get AJ some of those.

Saw this question posed on 49erswebzone, what do yall think?

Should we bring back Randy Moss? I say absolutely if he wants to come back. Dude has really been a great leader and teammate and you`ve seen Crabtree benefit from it big time

Moss has been great. You can tell his teammates love being around him and he's showed he still can be a solid third WR when called upon. He's even been blocking pretty well. If we do somehow as far as the SB, he'd probably retire.

They'd also probably want to see more of Jenkins next season so I'd find it unlikely that he comes back. If he does though I wouldnt be mad at it at all. I think he might make some plays for us in the playoffs this year.

Why not both Williams and manningham are coming off serious injuries

Yeah, if he comes back it's because we're thin at WR with the injuries and need the help at the beginning of the year.
They're going to give Jenkins every opportunity to make that leap, though.

Hey yall, some good news for once.

Justin Smith returns to San Francisco 49ers practice - NFL.com

And on a less brighter note, from the same article.

"the 49ers held a rare kicker competition before the playoffs. Newly signed kicker Billy Cundiff made 10 of 12 field-goal attempts during practice, according to The Associated Press. Struggling incumbent David Akers went 16 of 21."

:snoop: God, please dont let these games come down to FG's. We gonna have problems if it does.

Apparently, Akers has been playing with a hernia...:wtf:

49ers Blog and Q&A: Akers says roller coaster year involved sports hernia

David Akers today said that he would gladly trade his NFL record-tying kick in Green Bay for the potential overtime winners he missed in two games against the Rams.

"It's been disappointing to say the least," Akers said. "Obviously, two games came down to missed kicks. And I hated to be the reason why we tied one and lost another one."

Today was the first day of competition between Akers and Billy Cundiff, the 10-year veteran the 49ers signed Wednesday after Akers missed two more kicks in Sunday's finale against Arizona. Neither man has been told exactly how the competition will work or when it will be decided.

They just know that the player who performs better in practice will be the kicker for the Jan. 12 playoff opener at Candlestick Park. "For me, it's been laid out very clearly," Cundiff said. "It's, 'Go out and practice well. Don't worry about anything else. Just give it your best.' And it's our head coaches decision and the management's decision on who's going to kick."

Akers revealed that his "up-and-down year" began in February with double hernia surgery. He said he recovered well, had a good training camp and then booted the 63-yard field goal in Green Bay in Week 1 that tied a record for the longest field goal ever made.

During the season, however, he fell following a kickoff and aggravated the injury. He said he flew to Philadelphia after the 49ers-Saints game on Nov. 25 to receive treatment. Still, he said he's felt good in recent practices and in pre-game attempts, but hasn't found any consistency this season.

Akers, a left-footed kicker, has a 69 percent field-goal percentage, the worst of his career, and one that ranks 30th among full-time kickers. "If I had an answer, I'd have fixed it a long time ago," Akers said.

Cundiff, meanwhile, is a righty. He tried out for seven teams after he was released by the Redskins in October. He said he continued to train and practice throughout the season in case an opportunity like this one arose.

Cundiff is best known for his 32-yard miss for the Ravens and head coach John Harbaugh at the end of last season's AFC Championship. Now he has the potential to return to the playoffs and kick for another head coach named Harbaugh. Does he think about redemption?

"For me - I moved on right after it happened," Cundiff said. "In order to have success in this league, you have to wipe your plate clean every year. Because you can't drag things in whether it's positive or negative. Because each year is brand new."

"Would I like to have that kick back?" Cundiff continued. "I most definitely would. But is it going to affect the way I think about this year's playoffs? Absolutely not."
