He tried multiple times and couldn't manage to get him in one, which really worries me. If someone tried to fight out of his clinch the way that Nick did here, Silva would just lock it in and punish him. Didn't happen here.

He's got mobility, the technique is still there, but the power, precision, evasion and viciousness that used to define Silva's fighting style all seem to be diminished to varying degrees. We didn't see the return of Anderson Silva tonight, we saw the arrival of a pretty good fighter that just happens to look like Anderson Silva.

The Anderson Silva we all know and love is dead until further notice.

nick basically came in for in the paycheck (i don't believe he really thought he could win this fight) and actually survived all 5 rounds which was really surprising. although he wasn't as aggressive as usual, he did bring some extra fukkery with him.

i thought andy was gonna slaughter diaz, just put the beats on him and eventually finish him. silva clearly won that fight...but i dunno man. i think he looked pretty good but at the same time, he wasn't the same guy as we're used to seeing. and given his age and his injuries and everything, we've got to get to used to that. and that's not exactly surprising either but it is kind of sad to think about.
