I been a fan of X since I was 7 years old when The Ruff Ryders Anthem video got played on MTV/BET
I remember always going through my stepdad’s cd collection and looking at the It’s Dark..and the Flesh Of My Flesh album covers/booklets just mesmerized.
Then he found out I was going thru his shyt because one of the disc kept skipping
Ruff Ryders/Cash Money/No Limit era was my introduction to Hip-Hop.
I guess in some ways I viewed X as like this Superhero where no matter how many obstacles, pain and darkness he experienced we always expect him to overcome them
That’s why I refuse to count him out. Look at everything he been thru and still persevered.

I got a picture with him in Raleigh.
I was there for a NC black political banquet in the afternoon, and he was there to do a concert that night or weekend. Plus his tour bus was parked outside.
So when word got out that DMX was nearby it was the main side topic.
X was standing by the hotel receptionist table, with some ladies on his entourage (maybe baby moms, IDK), and several suited up and dressed up black politicians or people connected to them were standing in line to get a picture. I managed to get one and he put his middle finger up.....
He looked like he didn't want to be bothered, but he was gracious and got pics with us.
