Maaaayne, I've never been one to complain about Alice or the fact that these mostly had nothing to do with the games...it's whatever. That was resolved back in 2002 or whenever it was the first came out.
But...
If they don't focus at least one of these new joints exclusively on a haunted house filmed with zombies, zombie dogs, traps, and hidden passages.....I'ma feel let down.
It's time to give us ONE attempt at something approximating the atmosphere of the early games.
Are any of the movies worth watching?
Honestly, they probably aren't worth viewing if you're an adult trying to watch them for the first time. They simply aren't sophisticated in any real way, my memory of them is that of a high-school/college stoner but I still remember how mundane they were.
Nevertheless...
A lot of people like the first, as has already been mentioned. This one actually seems to have gotten more appreciated over the years. I think that after people got over "it's not like the games" more were willing to appreciate it as a pretty unique underground bunker/zombie movie.
^ It's silly now, but back in HS, me and my friends were
at this scene....
I actually think that the second and third aren't too bad.
The second is just silly campy fun..it's the one the follows the videogames the closest (It's a *pretty* close approximation of RE2 and RE3:Nemesis) and it introduced some new characters like Jill Valentine from the games and Mike Epps (I will never remember his characters name). There's a legit boss fight at the end....
RE3 functions as a pretty interesting Post-Zombie Apocalypse/Road-Movie. The first half in particularly isn't a bad take on say, Mad Max meets The Walking Dead. Cool setting, and a couple of pretty fun action sequences.
I actually never saw any of the other ones...
Although I liked these three enough, they weren't good enough to warrant any more investment in the franchise.
