My issue with the JK Rowling thing is that it's a clear cut example of hypocrisy and extremism. These people turn on their phone (which is powered by cobalt mined via child slavery) and then use twitter (owned by a vehement anti-trans bigot billionaire) to demand people not purchase a game because the IP creator is problematic. Nevermind she has nothing to do with the game, and the game's success or failure has no real impact on her wealth. She's nearly a billionaire, btw.
I don't listen to R Kelly music because of the shyt that he's done. And yet I have no issue watching a Roman Polanski movie. That's a clear contradiction, but I'm not out here attacking people for listening to R Kelly or trying to get them fired for "supporting" a pedophile. That's the major difference here. If you're going to take such an extremist position you better be pure or you just look like a raving lunatic. This game is gonna sell tens of millions of copies whether it's a good game or not. Harry Potter remains one of the biggest IPs in the world. And it's gonna be funny to watch the meltdowns, because these people have spent YEARS spinning narratives that Harry Potter is no longer popular because people are outraged by the author's bigotry. In reality nobody cares and most people have no issue separating art from the artist.

Yeah, at the end of the day its easy to make any person living in a first world country feel like a piece of shyt in some way. We all doing highly immoral stuff under the guise of ignorance. The video game systems we play on are made with slave labor and they even had a sticky on it at era, you think they gonna stop playing games.
There was another thing about banning discussion regarding activision and blizzard around the game awards two years ago then a couple incidents started popping up at like insomniac, ubisoft, nintendo, etc. and they just decided to drop it.

THIS. Breh you 100% right. Anti-capitalist yet mass consumerist behavior. Including worshipping and/or vehemently defending corporations. You see it in the way they spend so much time defending the tokenism and bland "representation" the corporate overlords give them. And it's no surprise Disney and others have leaned into this, knowing they have an army of people willing to defend their trash because "POC stories etc etc." Nevermind these films/tv almost never actually have black/gay/etc stories, it's just a race/gender/sexuality swap for marketing.
These are people who haven't read a book since The Hunger Games, don't want to be challenged and have no interest in views that oppose theirs. I don't even mean political views - anything that requires thought or contemplation or contrast. No wonder they only consume media made for children. That's all they can process.
