Vinny Gorgeous....I bet his hair looked amazing

Basciano is nicknamed "Vinny Gorgeous," due to owning a Bronx beauty salon called "Hello Gorgeous," and for his fastidious grooming, hairstyle and looks. In 2011, reporters noted that despite being imprisoned in solitary confinement the past four years, Basciano still looked perfectly groomed in the courtroom. :wow:[3]

That's the former head of the "New Jersey gang unit". He probably don't know much about the mob as he thinks. The mob expert Jerry Capeci in the last two paragraphs said it best. At the end of the day, they'll work with whoever to make a buck.

Another interesting thing about that bust is the Boss of the family, Matthew Madonna, is the same guy who supplied Nicky Barnes back in the day:

Luchese Boss Matty Madonna's Longtime Criminal Career

Wife of Witness Reported Kidnapped After a Jury Convicts 3 in Drug Case

that dude Madonna is about to go on trial for ordering a murder in the BX about 5 years ago (that also involved a black dude as the shooter), and during that time he was out in bail for helping run a bookmaking operation that took something like 2 billion dollars a year in gross bets. before all that he was nicky barnes plug lmao. the dude has prob spent more time in jail than free, and would make more $ while locked up in couple years than most people do in a lifetime. its wild how much some of these dudes can be true believers and continue to do grimey shyt when they are almost 90 years old lol

people wanna shyt on the italians but they are still serious and deeply entrenched it NY's fabric and culture. def not like it used to be, but its a different world today.

i think this Zottola guy was just an associate. a rich one though. he lived on a literal compound like 6 houses in the BX. the dude who he answered to is locked up doing 23-1 lockup the rest of his life.

why would a guy drive from throggs neck to webster ave to get coffee? obviously a set up. why would a guy who has already had like 2 attempts on his life drive anywhere alone to meet anybody? this is a crazy story

Yeah the newspapers tried to make him out to be the next John Gotti until he got ratted on by Joey Massino- the Boss of the family that he replaced. Shows how weak the mob became.

You see how they talk about Bloods? Like they can't run a organized crime operation.

From Marc Agnifilo, the former head of the gang unit in the United States attorney’s office in New Jersey:

“No self-respecting mobster would want anything to do with the Bloods or Crips because those gangs are the antithesis of the Mafia,” he said. “The mob is concerned with making money over the long haul, trying to appear respectable. But the Bloods are concerned with projecting their status, so they’re all, ‘I’m going to shoot up the block and wear a red bandanna.’”

Yet Mr. Agnifilo said that when he had prosecuted both organized crime and street gang cases between 1998 and 2003, he frequently heard members of the Bloods speak of Mafia members and customs with admiration.

“The Blood guys love mobsters because they’re the old-school gangsters,” he said. “A lot of my Mafia informants in prison would complain that they couldn’t get away from the Bloods’ always following them and fawning over them.”
---------------
"I don't think the Luccheses in general would want to do business with the Bloods," he said. "I can't imagine that the Luccheses have declined to the point that they need the Bloods to make money."

-----------------------
Jerry Capeci, a journalist who has covered the New York crime families for decades, runs the Mafia Web site ganglandnews.com. He said that while he has never before heard of the mob working with gangs like the Bloods, he is not surprised.

"Gangsters are equal-opportunity criminals," he said. "They will team up with whomever they can in order to make a buck." Capeci said he does not believe the mob's willingness to work with gang members suggests desperation. "The Luccheses are weakened, but they are still a viable New York City crime family," he said. "They still kill people when they have to."
Yeah the first guy really sounds like he's on some :mjpls: shyt.

Maybe he was going to Jersey and stopped for coffee (that McDonald's is right off the Cross Bronx).

Yeah I remember that story:

Two indicted for murder of 'Mafia hitman' in the Bronx | Daily Mail Online

It will be interesting to see who was behind this one. Are the Albanians heavy like that now in NY? Police already believe it was them, so someone must be ratting.

Just looking at some old documentaries, the mob was just as wild as anyone else back in the 80's and 90's. All out warfare, shootouts in the streets, innocent people killed, drug dealing. Scumbags. They always make it seem like they're just organized gentlemen criminals. They don't kill as much today only because they're quicker to rat.

The city basically handed out contracts to them to stop the bloodshed:mjlol:

A lake near Tampa FL
His son put out a hit on his own father and brother :damn:

A wiseguy’s son had him whacked in a McDonald’s drive-thru in the Bronx — and was behind the botched hit on his own brother, federal authorities in Brooklyn said Tuesday.

Anthony Zottola Sr. was named in a Brooklyn federal indictment that charges him with murder-for-hire conspiracy, unlawful use and possession of firearms and causing death through use of a firearm.

Zottola’s father, Sylvester “Sally Daz” Zottola, was gunned down on Oct. 4 as he sat in an Acura SUV that was boxed in by other vehicles outside the fast-food eatery at Webster Avenue and Belmont Street.

The elder Zottola, 71, had ordered a medium coffee shortly before being shot in the head, chest and shoulder, law enforcement sources have said.

The reputed Bonanno crime family associate is suspected to have run an illegal gambling operation involving “Joker Poker” video games.

“As alleged, Zottola Sr. set in motion a deadly plot to kill his father and brother, with Bloods gang members carrying out extreme acts of violence to collect a payoff for the hits,” said US Attorney Richard Donoghue.
