Having a large amount of family who has served in all branches of the military and having read another military post saying this, but the reality is maybe 1-2% of all the people who join the military want to go to war. Most people who join do not want any kind of conflict whatsoever.

So imagine what most citizens are like.

I was in the Marines. While there are some who would love to be unleashed on American citizens, the bulk aren't about that. It's one thing going from house to house in Fallelujah or some village in Afghanistan against Arabs and Punjabis but doing that in Cleveland, Charlotte, Atlanta, Chicago, Tulsa, etc. is a lot different.
