remixes having completely different beats and/or lyrics and multiple guests was some of the illest shyt in the 90's. that shyt is dead in this era. there ain't no more "shut 'em down" remixes, "i gotcha opin" remixes, no "soul on ice" remixes, no "scenario" remixes or "paid in full" remixes. nowadays a remix means getting 2 or 3 of the most popular rappers out and just pasting them to the beginning and end of the original song. fukk that lazy shyt.
but back in the day, the worst part about there being dope remixes or single/video versions, was when you first heard the track on the radio or saw the video on The Box or whatever and you rushed out to cop the album only to find out that the version on the LP is on some

shyt and had to be redone in order to be dope, then you find out that the single with the remix/version you want isn't out yet so you had to cop that too when it dropped weeks/months later.
i'm still shaking my head over 17 years later at the LP version of "Attitudes" by South Circle being zzzzzzzzz compared to the video version and me being suckered as a youth into copping the full album...
