i mean that’s as much on Cena as it is on creative. Cena didn’t start leaning into it with his shyt eating grin schtick when he got on the mic until the last few years of his career. Even if Vince was going to fight him on it tooth and nail he could have just leaned into it like that from the jump and got so much beat organically they’d be forced to do it. He was hogan-esque for a while in that I don’t think he wanted to be a kayfabe bad guy. I mean hell if my checks were being written to appeal to 10 yr olds I probably would have done the same thing.
