Remember when Papoose had that deal and Scott Storch laced him with a 50 Cent wannabe record?

"You brought 10 nikka's who thought they'd never see you breathless
Well that's somethin' that Tennessee like Memphis
Rappers be tryin' to get in where they fit in like Tetris
That's why I Ieave they family mourning like breakfast
They see other nikkas do it and then they try to follow
That's why I leave they family mourning like Alonzo"

This shyt bout to bring a tear to my eye. Probably ain’t heard this song in 20 years.

This is the culture. This site been starting to look real funny bc nggas are becoming populist. Real culture vulture shyt

Some shyt you just had to be there, and there was a window when Papoose was seen as possibly/hopefully being NY’s savior

Was this a new Nas verse at the time?

Yes. He absolutely bodied Nas on that.

And it wasn’t even some shocking thing. Nas wasn’t really embracing the underground/mixtape era. He had a couple of loosies out and they were cool but the game was more street at the time so it wasn’t like ‘oh shyt a Nas verse!’.

papoose had a crazy street buzz at that time. it was kinda crazy looking back

In HS there was this puerto rican kid that was the biggest papoose stan ever. I mean this is when pap was first coming out and this guy had like every mixtape and was constantly putting nikkas on to new shyt :dead:

Pap had some nice songs though

This one with JR at the time is like if lebron & carmelo was on the same team in their freshman yr :laff:
