Remember when MJ switched hands in mid air and nikkas thought it was the end of the world?

I'm convinced this generational divide among men when it comes to hip hop & basketball is a Psy Op. I don't see it happening in any other sport or genre.

This liking seeing the 10 year old jit pull off 900s back to back, still don't hit like the OG Tony Hawk :unimpressed:

I’d argue those 900s that kid pulled was comparatively more impressive :wow: Some of the coldest shyt I’ve ever seen

More than the age issue, the real issue with sports discourse is we have too many non hoopers with a voice these days. I would say it’s white boys, but that’s not true bc just bc you a ngga don’t mean you can hoop :childplease:

The Mj layup is iconic bc even 30 years of evolution later, you can’t replicate it. It defied logic. It’s one thing to change hands, but it seemed like he was up with that right hand a split second longer than what’s logical, to then have the ability to switch left. And that’s a lot of his moves and his entire concept of ‘hang time’. It defies logic. Physically, there is no such thing as “hang time”, yet the way he stays in the air clearly looks different than any other player, even athletic ones. It still holds true 30 years later we’ve never seen it again

On the flip, a 360 layup —-like a 360 dunk for someone with hops—-is actually easy to do. A non hooper doesn’t understand that :francis: The shock is more that he had the audacity to try it in a game. But you can instantly look up a hundred 360 lays. Meanwhile you can’t find anything like Jordan’s layup bc the hang time has never been duplicated

Thats a Wednesday for Kyrie :yeshrug:

You’re trolling but this brings me back to my ‘you nggas ain’t never hoop’

Bc the irony of bigging up Kyrie and shytting on the 90s when Kyrie himself would tell you he’s nothing without his godfather Rod Strickland…who let yall tell it would be deemed a ‘plumber’ :beli:

We’ve replaced actual hoop talk with trolling and causal observations from nggas who ain’t nice irl

That layup is still sick 33 years later.

Exactly. Non hoopers don’t understand the nuance.

First you start with his hand size pause. If you ask 100 athletic high level hoppers to replicate that play, at least half are eliminated off top bc they can’t palm the ball and put it out there like he did. So there goes your Kyrie pipe dreams.

Then you factor in he did that off 1 dribble, essentially a max vert. Well he had a 45+ inch vertical. That eliminates a good 98% of nggas to ever play the game :beli:And that’s one thing they still hasn’t changed with evolution. So that eliminates even the best players we deem athletic. Ie Kobe had at best a 40 inch vert if that.

Then you add in the agility. Mike had the fluidity of a late bloomer height wise. There’s a reason Vince Carter’s athleticism is different, Dominique’s looks different. They didn’t have that ‘quick twitch’ type movement so this type of move, even tho they could physically pull it off, would not look the same at all.

So you funnel all that and that’s why it’s a 1 of 1 bc nggas just ain’t been built like that before or since.

Yeah that's the thing about Mike. That hang time, cat like quickness, and hang time has yet to be duplicated imo.

Just bc you ain't nothing without somebody don't mean you can't innovate and be better.

I respect the hell out of 90s ball but Strickland was nowhere near the player Kyrie Is. And Jordan's athleticism is awing anybody in today's game . He's still the Goat of his Era though
