MK was the better movie. The SF casting was extra ass

and SF is regarded as Meh to the general public

no, most people liked the original MK. SF is MK annihilation and Super mario bros level I think.

MK is nowhere near a good movie, none of them. MK & SF were garbage outside the anime shyt, until they did those series on the webs. Raul (r.i.p.) wasn't a good Bison. Dude that played Shang Tsung was good, everyone else was basic or bad.

This shyt wasn't even "so bad it's fun" It was just bad. Best thing from the SF movie was the random guard dude with knives in the game. MK had no redeeming qualities.

What makes MK work is it simplifies a potentially convoluted story. It takes the enter the dragon framework and throws in some mortal kombat mythology.

While the CG doesn’t hold up the practical effects do and the goro puppet is still an achievement. Everyone in the movie knows what movie they’re in so the performances are modulated just right. All three of the main characters have an arc and learn something when it’s over, the choreography is very well done by Robin Shou, and the feel of the movie is just right

Oh, don't get me wrong. MK & especially SF are a part of my childhood. We took it seriously, LOL. Sagat, Chun Li & Scorpion are my favorites & Chun Li/Vega is epic.

The story wasn't convoluted at this point, that came with #3, the fake trilogy & after when they started making shyt up. Quan Chi, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Noob for an example. Each person had clear goals for being there.

I've read how they made up shyt. Always thought MK2 or SF2 w/ Akuma
I wanna see "Bloody Roar" & "Darkstalkers"

Yeah Mortal Kombat is piff to this day. I watched it this week. For it to be a video game movie the only real drawbacks were nobody ever so much as having a cut in their face and Sonya's horrendous fighting skills.

And SF has gotten way more praise in this thread than it deserves
Raul had some funny lines and all, but nothing about this dude was M Bison from the game. And the flying boots thing? Come onnnnnn
