Let's cut the bullshyt: musically, dude fell off and you're a damn fool to think otherwise.

But it worked out for him because he blew up. He's just taking a break now and when he comes back, he'll be everywhere again

That trilogy shyt he dropped a modern classic and its unfair to compare him to that standard for every album he drops after imo.

Because besides that his music hasny even fallen off.

nikkas here really dislike the starby shyt? shyt was banging

her pen is heavy

abel songs he does himself i think he tends to punch in & mumble through it

the best songwriters really spill a lot of ink on paper

*

She's a songwriting machine.

A lot of the songs that he wrote still sound great, though.

Fans are gonna fukk around and make him stagnant because even from this thread you can see people want him to fit a certain sound.

Career on the downturn? WHAT?!?

Is the Coli serious?

You're delusional to say he's on the decline. He's simply taking a break.

The coli knows nothing about music let alone POP culture.. His last album was late 2016 and was a huge hit, what makes anyone think he is on a decline or not relevant anymore? this dude made this thread like its been 5 or more years since he made any music, like he has tried to put out songs and they flopped. I hate how these dudes be trying to shift the narrative on here

Honestly the way that nikka laid it down on his first 3 mixtapes, he dont even need to record music no more keeping it a buck :manny:

career on the downturn because the trilogy was a once in a lifetime moment and his once unique style is everywhere now, sometimes done better or worse. he's replaced whatever magic made the first 3 work with max martin and pop genius forgetting that literally any singer could make a deserve it or starboy but very few can capture the feeling of the hills or the glee of I Can't Feel My Face.

the grittiness that defined him is gone. it's weird because when he did that dirty diana cover, you could imagine the type of pop star he could have been. Something more impactful and dark. The Hills was a perfect example; it's his old style with the overproduction of a pop star but it's has a horror movie feel with his delivery, the screams, the drops of the beat, etc. it all works.

on the other hand, you have earned it, great song, but it could have been a miguel song, or a partynextdoor song, or so on and so forth. it's exactly what you exactly

can't feel my face is on the same side, but much more his style. because of him singing it, it instantly becomes more, people start recognizing it as a song about cocaine. if somebody else sung it, the double entendre side wouldn't have been so prominent or even sung about later. i wouldn't be mad if he developed more in this style, but it's still way too clean for me as a fan.

starboy was just trash, imo. it's so far on the other side that it's hard imagining it being wholly the weeknd's idea. as time goes on, it becomes more and more evident that the team behind XO made the weeknd as much as his music did. the aesthetic, the photos with the faces cropped/cut out, the album covers, etc. he captured, tweaked and sold the most pure form of hedonism in music in a while.

house of balloons is such an incredible piece of work. i get that it's hard to replicate. but it's really disappointing to see that it hasn't fully evolved into something special after all this time.

i get the feeling him and drake aren't on perfect terms and they're apprehensive about working with each other again, but it honestly might be the best thing either one of them could do right now for a full shift in R&B/pop. they've evolved over time, each learning so much on two different spectrums that they could make something insane together.]

or or or, the weeknd could leave the electronic shyt behind and get back into dream pop. give us some shyt like the birds. he has a touch for atmosphere and sound. bring back the beach house samples and shyt.

Trilogy fans long for that dark hedonism but when you look at how huge Take Care was

and KissLand ( which you omitted ) it's obvious why he made the choice to evolve

Weeknd does Arena tours and goes #1 each time... He doesn't need Champagne Sharki:pachaha:
