Africa is rich enough to construct its own building. One African out of the hundreds of rogue Africans that have robbed the continent can pay for that building. The building is only US$200 million - why wait for a freebie from an external party that has vested interests?

Why would someone that robbed Africa be interested in helping it?

The Africans that rob Africa arent much different that the outsiders that rob the continent in fact its worse. Its like a guy from the neighborhood robbing you as opposed to some stranger.

The AU is nothing but a bunch of rich politicians with no real interest in advancing the continent except to fatten their pockets. They won't mind the Chinese coming in as long as it doesn't feel like Western-style imperialism. But they don't realize China is playing the long game. :snoop:

The same reason why diplomats didn't stay in the Waldorf Astoria after the Chinese bought it. Any pieces of real estate they own or built that houses financial or government activity has to be suspected as bugged.

The Russians do the same thing, and thats where some of the meat on the Trump Russian spy dossier came from.

If youre anybody in this world, and stay in a Russian hotel expect them to have bugged and scoped the room.
They'll also gladly send you hoes right to your door, just to make the recording's better to blackmail you.

How so?

And before you answer that, name allies that don't spy on each other or a country China does not spy on.

Let's compare it to a real life scenario.

Say you run a business (since businesses are profit oriented just as relationships between countries are driven by interests) and you're trying to build a new HQ..Would you let one of your clients give you the new HQ out of 'goodwill' when you know clients are also trying to maximize profits and eke out the best deals they can't, especially when you can afford it? And in the scheme of things - shouldn't you be weary of the ulterior motive(s) in that type of 'goodwill'?

Not disputing the fact that allies spy on one another. Espionage is the oldest thing out there since countries have been forming nation states. But you can always put yourself in a position where you'll become an easy prey and certain gifts are Greek gifts. African countries need to do better. It's not just the AU building - the useless foreign aids are also Greek gifts.

I remember a few years ago when India rejected the UK's foreign aid and the government was literally begging them to accept it. Read about it here: India tells Britain: We don't want your aid Who begs people to accept gifts if there isn't something sinister attached to it?
