Have you ever noticed that some if the most vile hateful things a person says he probly learned it in church.... For example: you get very religious people talmbout how being gay is so wrong and those gay people are less than humans ect. I am a god faring person but it's hard for me to subscribe to any Religion with all the hate and discrimination being spewed at church.

If you believe in God follow God and not people. A lot of people will try and use God to justify bigotry and hate.

Religious or not, homosexuality is a disorder and should be treated as such.

Religion is inherently divisive. The "us" (meaning members of your religion) vs. "them" mentality is central to most religious ideologies.

So it's not surprising that religious doctrine is prone to contributing to bigotry and hate. If it's not gays, it's nonbelievers, people of other faiths, "pagans", liberals, other denominations, etc., you kind of need somebody to be against.

I just used homosexuality as an example, it is only one thing amongst many that religious people hate. The bible teaches tolerance and that all sins are created equal so how do people take that message and turn it to hate, then tell me I'm wrong for not being a part of the hate?

You can't make such a bold statement, then blame all homo bashing on theists...

I don't even know where you came up with that. The most vile things you can say are definitely not found in the church

Again my thread is not about homo bashing. Think of it this way, the Taliban=religious KKK=religious Hitler=religious Slave owners= religious and on, and on, and on. If you ask any one of them they will tell you it's gods plan because the bible, koran, etc told them there actions are righteous and theese people are to be hated. My question is why do we sign up for religion knowing the hurt that religion has perpetrated over the centuries.

Most people don't "sign up", they're born into it.

You have a small portion of people that convert to whatever religion, but the vast majority of people just follow whatever religion their parents followed.

You don't have to follow what your parents did unless you "want" to. My parents are Christians and I think allot of the crap they say is pure bs. People follow religions because they want to

are there any statistics that cover relgious deaths?

I'd love to see just about how many people lose their lives daily over religion. Especially in the middle east..
