So you're on a job making $3-4 million dollars per year for a few years or more.....you get fired. Tough. :yeshrug: If you saved ur money even halfway decently you'll never be forced to work again a day in ur life. How many of the people saying they "feel sorry for you", can say that? And given the system of pro-sports, you'll get bumped down to a job making $200,000-$300,000 somewhere else. That's hardly a meager living.

If you're a black coach and a white coach got a longer chance than you? Big deal, you still made several million dollars and you have a better situation than 99.99% of all African-Americans. Not saying it's fair, just saying, I can't feel sorry for you. :upsetfavre:

I see what your saying. $$ aint everything though. I dont think nobody on earth wants to be fired millionaire or normal cat. Nobody goes into a job thinking "If I get fired so be it i get a nice payout".Everybody wants to do the best job they can and walk off the job on there own terms However these guys are in the public eye so being fired is an embarassment and more of a pride thing. With a normal person its more of "my world is crashing down, what do I do".

actually NFL coaches typically get fired before their deal is up. so in the case of a lovie smith, he collects $5M plus in 2013. these coaches at least got a year of guarunteed money to get a plan in motion for their next job.

This, I think we sometimes underestimate the work it takes to be an NFL coach, my former D-Coorndinator in college was a strength and conditioning coach for the Jet's in the 70's and it is a 24 hour job. Your day starts at about 4 or 5 am and you may or may not have your family in the area, that NFL team you work for is your life literally and the players are like your family. Yes it a high paying job but they ask a lot of you for that money and it's extremely stressful.

ive been thinking about this. I dont wanna see anybody get fired cause thats how they eat. in the NFL it's so many variables that go into winning that you have no control over. and these guys arent coaching for the money they're coaching cause they love the game. so i feel bad for them in that sense.
but at the same time sometimes they cant do the job anymore and need to be let go.

The only jobs I could think of that's more stressful is maybe a CEO, small business owner and a high level gov't official thats more or less it. There aren't many other jobs this stressful that's why so few people are built for it.

the only thing that sucks is the lower level assistant coaches that get fired along with the head coach. They don't make near as much as the head coach and they get scrapped and thrown in the bushes as well. They have to scramble to get another team quick. especially if they have a family to support.

I have more important shyt to worry about like where my next meal is coming from to be feeling sorry for any NFL coach. And for any of you dudes who have been around the NFL or College sports, I am sure you can attest to the fact the most head coaches are fukking complete ass holes.
