The difference was that you could come through and play ALL of GTA 5 and not even touch online EVER. The same was for RDR1. Sure if they can milk the game in multiplayer why not...but that doesn't mean the microtransactions would be obtrusive...
I never spent a dime on GTA 5 beyond the $60 for the game and I don't feel cheated at all...
Its when the game becomes dependent on them is when microtrans and loot boxes become problematic....Overwatch has microtransactions..but no one bats an eye at them...because it doesn't affect gameplay.
Rockstar is NOT EA. They have done this before and done it well...not to mention all of gaming is looking at the BF2 fallout and going..."yeah lets not do THAT."
