He was not indie distributed, he had no deal. He did one project deals with distributors or companies like Apple. Try to find his albums at Best Buy on release, impossible.

He was managed by one of the most connected people in music though through CAA. To me, it’s all semantics, indie technically means that you’re not on a major label. But if you are connected to major players, you don’t need major labels for financing etc anymore. But getting connected to those managers, live nation execs and having financing is not child’s play, getting major label deals is easier.
