Sure you can, but you can't create that sound with the stock presets on either FL or Reason.

You need to find drum breaks and drum samples to achieve that sound.

FL Studio makes the greatest beats ever created. There is nothing better. Combined with a keyboard it is unstoppable.

You'll never believe this but I've actually never worked in FL Studio. I've heard some great things about it, people say it's really easy to get into but it's hard to imagine anything that offers a higher ease of proficiency than Reason. Especially the new Reason 6, they really did great things with it.

Can someone who's used both explain how they compare? I'm starting to get interested in what people are raving about.

i'm not too good in mixing and tweaking sounds. if you use sound presets, i'd say Reason has a rougher/heavier sound that kinda sounds muffled and "uncrisped" sometimes (i'm talking in general, not all the sounds are like that)

from what i remember on FL (and i only tried up to version 5 i think) it's the complete opposite sound wise. sound is thinner and lighter. if only they could make a program with sounds between those two programs...

I'm sure there's a way to make FL studio a little heavier and vice versa for Reason (although a lot of the sounds in reason depend on actual sound samples). but then again the sounds in Reason's Thor are pretty much in between which is good for me.

i'd say FL is more intuitive when you start and Reason is easier once you "get" the logic of the program. building a song, putting in effects, playing and tweaking sounds just seemed easier for me on Reason. Plus i hear that the new version you can actually record sounds?? add in recycle and rewire...

i'm biased cause i haven't seen the newer versions of FL. i'm sure a lot has changed since. i just remember the stock sounds being very limited and kinda mediocre back then. i know you could get VSTs ut that shyt seemed like extra trouble for me.

if you're mostly using samples, both of them are more or less the same i guess.

Personally I can only vouch for FL since I only used the rewire function for a limited amount of time. In pretty "gut" FL when I use it, meaning I mainly use my personal sound library and VST's. On the flip side the new versions of FL have introduced some pretty ill VSTs and have an even more user friendly feel to them. I've used other relatively simple DAW's and FL is hands down the best equipped for the power user or the novice.

I use reason. I used Fl for years and loved it though. Using reason with rewire into pro tools and using the pro tools plug ins is always the best bet for me. I'm always extra careful with vst's on beats...I wait until the mixing phase as much as possible.

fl's easier to learn, particularly because of the mixer board. there's more of a learning curve with the console lay-out in reason and the routing will probably trip you up. does reason have a step sequencer? i forget. if not, that's another thing that makes fl easier right off the bat.

IMO reason is for the more musically inclined. i transitioned for FL to reason with very little trouble. one quick set back for the budget minded is that to use reason you NEED a midi controller. for FL you can just use the computers keyboard.
