The US Bill of Rights had a precendent in English Bill of Rights so its not a completely new concept. The Constitution , yes, would not exist but something like it would come its place. No colony remains a colony forever so we would've gave some autonomy and more eventually.
It’s hard to look at India and see British colonization ending well if they don’t want to.

The basic issue was the American colonizers took all the risk with no voice will the British king just reaped the reward.

It was going to end badly.

In the Silver Lining
And what have either actually done for Black folk in the large scheme of things?

What do you want me say?

We're here. Our ancestors died and suffered and now we're still here. Constitution was tirelessly shaken up to not only include land owning white men, but any person born here

You will never hear me say this country is perfect.

In the grand scheme of things we have a Constitution written by hypocrites, but most of the words and sentences put together if applied to all human beings is a dope form of governance.

So in grand scheme you can do all the things you do and that's because of the Bill of Rights.
  • So you enjoy these rights.
  • But its up to us to protect and make sure our politicians maintain and manifest the safeguarding and continuation of those rights.

If the Revolution never happened, life would've be the same for the vast majority of people. African slaves would still be abuse. Natives would still be genocided off their land. Everyday cac colonists will still cac.

Only the rich landowners would really be affected and even then they would be probably pay a tiny increase of taxes.

The Patriots didn't have any real complaints other than tax increases and such. It was not like Algeria, Indonesia, Vietnam or Angola where the colonizing forces were oppressing them with ethnic cleansing, mass rape, discriminatory laws or endemic poverty. It was just one big Karen moment because they didn't want to follow basic rules:pachaha:

I'm not defending the British Empire, they were some of the worst and most flagrant political entities to grace the world but if the Thirteen Colonies remained just colonies, what we call the United States may be at least at a slightly better state today. Sort of like Canada or Australia and definitely not a superpower.

:why:

Yea, American Revolution was weak sauce. Antagonize the French and Native Americans for years, violating territorial treaties left and right until the French and Native Americans slap back. Then run and hide behind the skirtsof England during the French and Indian war. Then bytch and cry about being taxed to pay for said war that the dumbass colonials started. England treated these fools with kids gloves for 90 fukking years through Salutary neglect and they get shot at for asking freeloaders to kick in their fairshare. That taxation without representation argument might've been a cogent argument if they had not gone untaxed for 90 years, all while soaking up the protection of the Royal Navy that allowed American commerce to flourish. A bunch of hypocrites high off of so-called Enlightenment ideals who never failed to shyt all over those principles in the name of expediency. The only worthwhile thing to come out of the American revolution was the eventual birth of black culture and identity. Give me Miles Davis over any 1000 Jeffersons or any of the other liberty loving slave owners.

It’s always weird having to take formal classes on this cause your mind is like “these dudes are patriots for being hypocrit freeloaders?” It fukks with your learning process and you think somethings wrong with you for not going along with the cognitive dissonance

I'm surprised to see a thread like this in TLR, but this is one of my favorite quiet takes. The American Revolution was really justified nor necessary.

Facts. The Revolution was history's most unnecessary and overrated freedom movement. These guys freeload for damn near 100 years, start a war and then start shooting when they are asked to kick in. All while claiming freedom and liberty while owning slaves. The cognitive dissonance of the Revolution boggles the mind.
