On Xbox 360 back in the days I used to just re-add all of my friends instead of forking out £10 to change my name.

This the same company that limits how many times your account can be placed on another machine as well.

It's like these fakkits actually gain some sort of pleasure in disabling the content you are ultimately renting when you buy digital media.

Their 180 on backward compatibility is something I've came to terms with since I still own all my old media and consoles but this silly shyt is damn near Draconian.

Many folks don’t wanna lose save data and trophy progress associated with making a new account, let alone the fact that all of their digital purchases are connected to the account...

No. These are possible side effects for individual games. Things COULD get messy, but might be fine. Lets be sure not to muddy the messaging here..

So if I'm reading this correctly, if you change your PSN username you may lose access to your games and dlc.

Youre not reading it correctly. Your DLC and games are always available for download. Its when devs that sell virtual currency and other lootcrate BS within the game that you might have an issue. We will see what pops up

I don't even understand how you fukk up something as simple as changing your ID online. shyt, I remember during the 360 days you could change your name (had to pay for it) but could still do it with no negative impacts.
