Re-watching Mass Effect scenes Shepherd was white arrogance

but from the marketing it seems like shepard is a white dude
in fact, I never would have known you could change his race if it wasn't for this thread.

There is no "official" Commander Shepard. There is the base character which isn't even set as male or female. Bioware did a gang of promo for 3, with the female version of the character.

Side note. Am I the only person who tries to create their real life face in the game and it ends up horribly wrong?

Face scanning tech should be something that's in next gen games. Why does 2K seem to get it right but no one else can or wants to implement the tech especially if we can create our own character?

As Shepard was conceptualized as female but it switched. Come 3 they wanted to provide the choice for either in their respective promos. At its core BioWare's vision was a cac. Same can be said for Skyrim. There's 9 races but the promotional material isn't Brentos, Khajit or Orces, its a blonde Nord.

And? They used a white model for the default, non-customized face. If OP envisioned his dude as white arrogance, that's cause he's on some and didn't make BroShep a breh.
